Armenia's Defense Ministry is sparing no effort to minimize non-combat
deaths in the army and punish those accountable, Deputy Defense
Minister, Lieutenant General Vladimir Gasparyan has said.
"Not only we are capable, but we discover and punish. We will reach
a point when emergency incidents in the army will be at the logical
minimum level," Gasparyan said in an interview with Zinuzh TV program.
The statement comes after Gasparyan and the leadership of the military
police and investigation service received on October 14 a group of
parents of conscripts killed in non-combat circumstance in the army.
The investigators of the ministry's investigation service and the
military police officers provided those parents with clarifications
over criminal cases filed in relation to the deaths of their sons
and responded to their questions.
Speaking about the recent non-combat deaths in the army, Gasparyan
said that the circumstances in which those deaths occurred have been
revealed and that the investigation is still underway.
Gasparyan also assured that the investigators will reveal all the
details and find out the degree of guilt of each person related to
those incidents.
