Iran spokesman urges regional media to "tell the truth about soft war
with West"
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman has urged regional media to tell the
truth about the soft war with the West and clear the dishonest
atmosphere created by the Western media, Mehr news agency reported.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast made the remarks at a
press conference on 14 October during his visit to Russia's Republic
of Tartarstan.
Mehmanparast told reporters: "We are in the middle of a soft war. The
regional media should cooperate and tell the truth to the public. They
should clarify the situation and eliminate the dishonest atmosphere
which has been created by the Western media."
Commenting on the conflict between the Azerbaijan Republic and Armenia
over the issue of Qarabagh, Mehmanparast said: "We believe these two
countries should resolve their problem in an appropriate atmosphere
and Iran is prepared to help them resolve this issue."
Referring to recent developments in the Middle East, Mehmanparast
said: "We support the movement of nations in the Middle East and North
Africa. Governments should listen to the voice of their nations."
Mehmanparast also spoke about the Palestinian issue saying that the
root cause of the issue should be addressed because the Palestinian
people have been subjected to grave injustice over many years. He
said: "The Palestinian land should be returned to its original owners,
whether they are Christian, Jewish or Muslim and any other solution
from any party will be futile."
Speaking about the Gas OPEC, Mehmanparast said: "The Gas OPEC has been
set up but conditions for its activity are not ripe yet. We hope to
make good progress in this respect with the participation of all sides
and by utilizing our gas resources prevent the exploitation of
Westerners."
Mehmanparast said there were suitable grounds for cooperation between
Iran and Tartarstan in the fields of goods transit, air transportation
and tourism.
