PanARMENIAN.Net - On October 16, world's longest aerial tramway in the
Syunik province, southern part of Armenia Wings of Tatev celebrated
    its first anniversary of operation.

"In a year, more than 70 000 people have taken the aerial tramway,
them being not only Armenian citizens but also foreign tourists,"
Tigran Ghazaryan, aerial tramway manager told a press conference at
    Halidzor station.

According to him, 10% or 5000 passengers of the aerial tramway are
citizens of the adjacent communities who can take the aerial tramway
free of charge once a day.

Mr. Ghazaryan said that during the past year interest in the aerial
tramway especially rose during holidays, when Wings of Tatev served
700-800 per day. As for the prices, he noted that they will remain
    unchanged.

On October 16, 2010, the Tatev Revival Project was launched in Tatev,
Syunik province of Armenia, marked by the official inauguration of the
world's longest reversible passenger aerial tramway. The project was
conducted by the National Competitiveness of Armenia with 45 million
    dollar budget.

Two-way journey costs AMD 3 thousand except for those passengers from
the adjacent communities that have free access. One-way ticket costs
    AMD 2 thousand.

The aerial tramway spans 5,7 km, the highest point is 330 meters. It
takes 11 min from the village Halidzor to the famous medieval Tatev
monastery. Wings of Tatev was granted certificate from the Guinness
book of Records officially verifying the status of the longest
    reversible aerial tramway.
