The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia reports that no citizens
of Armenia were killed or injured in Sunday's earthquake in Turkey,
some 130 miles west of Yerevan.

The press center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin said that an
inquiry has been made into whether the sacred site of Aktamar had
been damaged, however there is no information as of Mondy afternoon.

As a result of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake, which hit Van, eastern
Turkey shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday, tremors were felt in the territory
of Georgia, Iran, and Armenia (measured 3-5 magnitude). The official
website of the Emergency Situations Ministry of Armenia states that
the earthquake has caused no damage in the territory of Armenia.

The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Metsamor is safe, as it is
    designed for a 9-magnitude earthquake.

The major tremors in Yerevan, which were strongly felt in multistoried
buildings, caused panic among Yerevan residents, who took their
essential belongings fled their buildings in fear.

As the website of the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre
(EMSC) reports, after the major earthquake a few dozen serious tremors
have been registered up to now, which however, do not have serious
    consequences.
