President of the Russian Federation Smitry Medvedev gave a state
dinner in honor of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and First Lady
Rita Sargsyan.
Thanking for warm hospitality, Presidnet Serzh Sargsyan noted
that the visit became another important demonstration of friendly
Armenian-Russian relations based on deep historic grounds.
"I'm grateful to the leadership of the Russian Federation for the
practical and constructive position in the negotiations, for the warm
words about the Armenian nation," President Sargsyan said, underlining
that throughout history the relations between Armenia and Russia have
been an example of sincere respect and mutual assistance.
The President noted that there are a number of glorious traditions of
political, military and humanitarian cooperation in the memory of the
two peoples. "We have to preserve this invaluable heritage and search
for new opportunities of further development of cooperation. This is
the basis of truly allied and partnership relations between Armenia
and Russia, targeted at the development of our countries and the
prospering of the two peoples," Serzh Sargsyan stated.
Serzh Sargsyan voiced hope that his visit would open new horizons
of cooperation. During the dinner President Sargsyan awarded the
Russian President with the highest state award of the Republic of
Armenia - the Order of Glory - for his personal contribution to the
reinforcement of traditional friendly ties between the Armenian and
Russian peoples, deepening and expansion of allied strategic relations
between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, as well
as maintenance of peace and international security.
