RENEWABLE ENERGY PROVIDES ABOUT 7% OF ANNUAL ENERGY PROCESSING IN ARMENIA - DEPUTY MINISTER

YEREVAN, October 26. /ARKA/. The share of energy produced from
renewable energy sources in Armenia is about 7% of total production,
said Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia
Levon Shahverdyan.
"As of the last year, the volume of energy processing from renewable
energy sources is about 450 kW/h",- said Shahverdyan during the
presentation of the program INOGATE on Wednesday.
In nine months of 2011, growth of this indicator was 7.1% compared
to the last year.
At the end of 90s - beginning of 2000s when Armenia has just started
development of this direction, potential in this sphere was on a
zero level.
Speaking about the strategic directions of development of
energy sector, Shahverdyan mentioned that Armenia is targeted at
diversification of the development of the sphere, including delivery
of energy carriers.
He also noted the works on integration of energy sector of Armenia
into regional programs.
According to the data of Armenian National Statistic Service, volume
of energy processing in Armenia in 2010 was 6491.3 million kW/h which
is by 14.5% more than the indicator of 2009. In January-August 2011,
total volume of energy production was about 5 billion kW/h, increased
by 14.6% compared to the same period of 2010.
