PM Erdogan attends foundation-laying ceremony of several facilities
in Izmir/Turkey was country that helped Azerbaijan first in most
difficult times, says Azerbaijani President Aliyev/Azeri president
expresses firm support for Turkey's combat on terrorism

Aliaga, 25 October: Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the foundation-laying
ceremony of the Star Refinery and Heydar Aliyev Technical High School
in the western province of Izmir on Tuesday [25 October].

Speaking at the ceremony, Erdogan said that they invited all countries
of the world to conduct a joint struggle against terror.

Every country that tolerates terrorists should understand that they
may be targeted by terrorists themselves one day, Erdogan said.

The whole world should understand that terror not only hits our
security forces and civilians but the conscience of the humanity,
    Erdogan stressed.

Turkey and Azerbaijan desire nothing but peace, tranquillity,
stability and welfare in the region. We wish to see solidarity in
    the whole region, Erdogan said.

We are 'two states and one nation' as well as a 'single heart' with
Azerbaijan. As such, until the (Armenian) occupation of Karabakh
ends, we will continue to be with Azerbaijan shoulder to shoulder,
    Erdogan said.

We are always grateful to Azerbaijan in their support to Turkey in
    counter-terrorism, Erdogan also said.

Erdogan said that Turkey was grateful to Azerbaijan for extending
a helping hand to the Turkish nation in the first hours following
Sunday's devastating earthquake in the eastern province of Van.

"Today, we perform the foundation-laying ceremony of the Star Refinery
which will be an investment worth 5bn dollars. When the refinery
gets completed by the year 2015, it will provide employment to one
    thousand people," Erdogan said.

"Today, we also perform the foundation-laying ceremony for the
Heydar Aliyev Technical High School that will provide education to
    720 students," Erdogan also said.

The inauguration of the AYPE-T Factory of the Petkim petrochemical
company also took place in Izmir on Tuesday with the participation
    of Erdogan and Aliyev.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said Tuesday that Turkey was
the country that helped Azerbaijan first in most difficult times of
    his country.

Speaking at a foundation-laying ceremony of the Star Refinery and the
Haydar Aliyev Technical High School in western province of Izmir on
Tuesday with the participation of Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan,
President Aliyev said that Azerbaijan was always ready to extend
support to Turkey as this was a responsibility of a brotherly country.

"Turkey is a great state and can solve all of its problems. Our
extending a helping hand after Sunday's earthquake in Van was an act
that came right from our heart," Aliyev said.

Investments made at the Petkim petrochemical company will serve the
peoples of Turkey and Azerbaijan, Aliyev also said.

The Star Refinery will be an investment worth 5bn dollars. When the
refinery gets completed by the year 2015, it will provide employment
    to one thousand people.

The inauguration of the AYPE-T Factory of the Petkim petrochemical
company also took place in Izmir on Tuesday with the participation
    of Erdogan and Aliyev.

President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday said his country supported Turkey's
    fight against PKK terrorism.

"Azerbaijan supports, defends and stands in solidarity with Turkey in
its rightful struggle against terrorism. We want peace in the entire
region and that people live in harmony," Aliyev told a joint press
appearance with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan after
a meeting of the High-level Strategic Cooperation Council in the
    western port city of Izmir.

Aliyev said Turkey had become "a global power centre", adding that
the country had a powerful government which said proved successful
in weathering global economic turmoil and recession.

Aliyev said Azeri and Turkish energy ministries continued a successful
course of cooperation, adding that agreements signed in energy would
open "new horizons" in relations between the two countries.
