BAKU COMMENTS ON INCOMPETENT STATEMENTS BY NALBANDIAN

Azerbaijan's position has always been clear and openly stated.
Azerbaijan is the most concerned party in the resolution of the
Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh, while the
statements from Yerevan testify to Armenia's intention to protract
the peace process. When a person has nothing to say about his country,
its achievements and its growth, he tries to accuse others.
The statement came from spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Elman Abdullayev, commenting on the interview of the Armenian Foreign
Ministry to Interfax information agency.
"Armenian leadership is well aware is that Azerbaijan's position
coincides with the views of the world community-it would be enough to
recall the resolutions and decisions of international organizations,
as UN, OSCE, European parliament and the statements of the Minsk-Group
co-chairing presidents", Abdullayev said.
"Azerbaijan's position has always been clear and openly stated. As a
country, elected as a nonpermanent member of the UN Security Council,
Azerbaijan stands for peace and security in the region and the
world and in this contest it is the biggest supporter of the soonest
resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
In this view, we still offer to shift to working at a Big peace treaty,
which testifies to Azerbaijan's interest in the soonest resolution
of the conflict", he said.
Spokesman of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry recommended the Armenian
side not to deceive itself or mislead the world community, making PR.
"The primitiveness of the Armenian Foreign Minister is just
astonishing-he is either unfamiliar with the text of the Meindorf
declaration to which he is 'skillfully' referring, or merely tries
to mislead all, referring to some half-hearted moments from the
declaration", Abdullayev said.
He reminded that the sides who signed the Meindorf declaration,
including Russia, state that 'they will promote sound situation in the
South Caucasus and ensure stability and security in the region through
political resolution of the Karabakh conflict based on principles
and norms of international law and decisions and documents adopted in
these frameworks, which will create favorable conditions for economic
development and comprehensive cooperation in the region".
"For example, we can point to four UN Security Council resolutions
adopted in 1993 and demanding unconditional withdrawal from the
occupied lands of Azerbaijan", Abdullayev said.
