Judicial Acts Compulsory Service (JACS) of the Republic of Armenia
has put a hold on the property and bank accounts of Dareskizb, LLC -
the company that publishes local daily Haykakan Zhamanak.
Speaking to RFE/RL the company's director Anna Hakobyan, said that
the JACS put the hold in the afternoon.
She also said that now they will have to pay 2,044,000 drams (approx.
$5240) to MPs Ruben Hayrapetyan, Levon Sargsyan and Samvel Aleksanyan
each for an article published last year which they claim insulted
their dignity.
It comes after a court ruling, demanding that the paper pay the MPs
in moral compensation.
Anna Hakobyan also said that following the court ruling they published
Wednesday an article on the front page of the paper, denying the
previous article that triggered the MPs' lawsuit.
Haykakan Zhamanak gathered the funds - a total of 6,234,000 drams
(approx. $ 16,850) - through a fund raising campaign.
