YEREVAN. - Armenian capital Yerevan's mayor, Karen Karapetyan, could
soon hand in his resignation, Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun daily writes.
"According to conversations, Yerevan's former mayor Gagik Beglaryan,
too, is aware that there is such matter on the agenda, and that
is why he started to attend the sessions of [ruling coalition's
Republican Party of Armenia] RPA Executive Committee, in the hopes
that, after Karen Karapetyan's resignation, they might call him back
and appoint him Mayor of Yerevan. According to our sources, however,
the authorities, in the person of [President] Serzh Sargsyan, are not
preparing to make Beglaryan mayor again," Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun
writes.
