EU STANDS FOR PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT OF REGIONAL CONFLICTS

Azerbaijan's election as nonpermanent member of the UN Security
Vouncil is a big diplomatic victory of official Baku.
The statement came from EU special envoy on South Caucasus Philippe
Lefort.
He was speaking during the meeting with Milli Majlis speaker Oqtay
Asadov.
He said that EU attaches great importance to development of relations
with the South Caucasus and watches the processes in the region.
"We appreciate Azerbaijan's contribution to energy security of Europe
and we are well aware of our role in the region. In this sense, the
European Union is interested in the fair peaceful resolution of the
conflicts in the region", Lefort said.
In turn, Asadov noted that unsettled Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict
over Nagorno Karabakh contains threat to security of Europe.
