ABOUT THE CANDIDATE: PETER BAGDIGIAN: MEMBER OF WPCA SEEKS TO RETURN TO TOWN PLAN AND ZONING COMMISSION

Name: Peter Bagdigian, Jr.
Party: Democrat
Position Seeking: Town Plan and Zoning Full 4 Year Term
Family information: I was born and raised in Farmington on our family
dairy farm. My family has lived in Farmington for over 90 years. I
attended Farmington schools, raised my family in Farmington, and sent
all three of my daughters through the Farmington public school systems.
Occupation, if applicable: In 2010, I was awarded a certificate of
appreciation from my church, Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection,
and a citation from the Connecticut General Assembly. Presently,
I serve as parish council chairman. In 2004, I retired from UCONN
Health Center.
Political Experience:
I currently serve on the Water Pollution Control Authority. I have
previously served as an elected member on the TPZ and ZBA.
Why are you running for office?
As a former elected member to TPZ and ZBA, I have gained the experience
and knowledge to serve Farmington. As a young boy growing up, our
town was more rural and more of a country setting. It is important
for Farmington to protect the remaining open space left as well as
our precious farms. Farmington can continue to develop responsibly
with commissioners such as myself, when elected, who are willing to
make methodical, responsible decisions.
If elected, what would be your primary areas of focus?
Open space and preservation of farm land is very important. In
considering future plans for residential and commercial building,
it is imperative that we remain cognizant to the balance of the
potential impact to infrastructure, ecological and traffic issues.
What issues or opportunities is the town facing today?
Traffic is a number one concern that needs to be addressed and
resolved. There have been traffic studies in both the Farmington
and Unionville parts of our town, with some movement, but clearly
not enough.
How would you propose to address them?
I would welcome the opportunity to be appointed to a future traffic
study group to assist in seeking a permanent resolution to this
long-standing problem.

Please vote for me on November 8th so I may continue my commitment
to serve Farmington.
