Leader of opposition alliance Armenian National Congress has said if
the bloc does not succeed in having President Serzh Sargsyan resign,
it will try to raise the issue of his impeachment at the parliament.
Speaking to his supporters on Liberty Square in Yerevan, Levon
Ter-Petrosyan also said that the HAK will spare no effort to hold
early elections.
"Even with the naked eye it can be seen that Armenia's internal
political struggle is stepping into a decisive, pre-election stage,"
said Ter-Petrosyan.
"The HAK will continue to do its best to hold snap elections, but
because it does not only depend on us, we should be ready for any
changes," he explained.
"If we do not succeed in having Serzh Sargsyan resign in the near
future - and that is not ruled out - then the Congress must seek
raising Serzh Sargsyan's impeachment issue at the National Assembly,"
he added.
Further, Levon Ter-Petrosyan said that regardless whatever happens,
the HAK should design mechanisms of how to hold elections.
Without that the formation of legitimate power is impossible,"
said Ter-Petrosyan.
