ARMENIAN PRESIDENT RECEIVES HEADS OF CIS RAIL DEPARTMENTS

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 28, ARMENPRESS: Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan
received today heads of CIS rail departments, who have arrived in
Yerevan to participate in the 55th meeting of CIS Council for Rail
Transport.
Presidential press service of Armenia told Armenpress that the
President welcomed the conduction of the meeting in Yerevan for
the third time, noting that Armenia is actively involved in CIS
integration processes and is for further expansion of relations
between CIS states. Stressing that the transport infrastructure and
particularly, the rail communication, occupies an important place in
CIS economic ingredient, President Serzh Sargsyan noted that there
is certain progress in development of rail transport in Armenia. But
our country still faces issues in the context of development of
interregional rail communication.
Chairman of CIS Council for Rail Transport and "Russian Railways"
Vladinir Yakunin expressed gratitude to President Serzh Sargsyan for
hosting the council in Armenia for a regular time and for permanent
attention paid to rail issues.
He attached importance to the strategic development program of rail
transport adopted at the sitting of the CIS Council for Heads of
Government held lately in Saint Petersburg.
