CRACK APPEARED ON THE DOME OF AKHTAMAR'S ST. CROSS CHURCH

A crack has appeared on the dome of the St. Cross Church on the Island
of Akhtamar after the devastating earthquake in Van October 23,
Turkey's Ministry of Culture reported. An official of the ministry
said that the employees of the ministry continue studies to find
out the condition of historic constructions functioning under the
affiliation of the ministry.
St. Cross Church was reconstructed in 2007. As a result of the
destructive earthquake hundreds of buildings in Van and nearby villages
collided. Some villages have been completely destroyed. As of today,
the death toll reached 500.
