    YEREVAN

YEREVAN, October 28. / ARKA /. The Armenian Office of Financial
Ombudsperson has received 1,630 complaints since its inception, the
head of the Central Bank of Armenia, Arthur Javadyan, said on Friday
at the opening of the Second Conference on the Financial Ombudsperson
    Institute in Yerevan.

Armenia was the first among CIS countries to establish the Office of
Financial Ombudsperson in 2009 January in accordance with the law On
    Financial Ombudsperson.

"The Armenian Office of Financial Ombudsperson has proved its viability
and effectiveness. This is evidenced by the constant growth of
complainants, which reached 1,630; the amount of compensation has
risen to 89 million drams and besides the cooperation with other
financial institutions is getting stronger", he said.

Arthur Javadyan said Armenia's experience could successfully be
applied in any country of the CIS. He added that this conference
is the right platform to once again underline the importance of
maintaining financial system's stability and the role of the Financial
    Ombudsperson.

Financial ombudswoman Piruz Sargsyan spoke about the assistance
    provided by the Central Bank.

Some 130 people are participating in the second conference on
"Financial Ombudsperson Institute' Aimed at Strengthening Public
Confidence and Increase of Financial Intermediation." Most
are representatives of banks, insurance companies and crediting
organizations. During the event, participants will have discussions
    on a variety of issues.

Financial Ombudsperson's services are free. This removes the need for
citizens to pay their attorneys and court costs that are inevitable
in case of taking their cases to courts.

The activity of the structure is aimed at protecting the rights and
interests of clients of the banking system of Armenia; to offer fast,
effective and free examination of their claims and increase of public
confidence in the financial system of the country. ($1 - 378.42 AMD).
