In an interview with an Armenian media outlet, Chairman of Prosperous
Armenia Party (PAP) Gagik Tsarukyan commented on the rumors about
disagreements within Armenia's ruling coalition.
Speaking of the PAP's aims and ambitions in the coming parliamentary
elections, Tsarukyan said that the party's aims or ambitions are
"logical and predictable." The party's aim is a least to retain its
present representation in Parliament and, if possible, get more seats.
"We have to launch numerous programs of consolidating our country's
and improving our people's well-being, using the Parliament's platform
as well," he said.
Speaking of the election chances of the Republican Party of Armenia
(RPA), Tsarukyan said: "It is logical that he RPA will try to
retain its representation in Armenia's Parliament and seek more. We
announced our joint aims several months ago by signing a memorandum
this February. We stated that our active steps would enhance the
ruling coalition's role in the country and, by means of elections,
our parties will get more seats in Parliament.
As regards the excitement about relations between the RPA and PAP,
Tsarukyan said that the question should be addressed to his partners
from both the parties. "Some media outlets fishing in troubled
waters thought up a 'problem' and 'new memorandums.' They claimed,
'verified' and may have made some people believed. Members of the
ruling political forces have repeatedly said that the excitement has
nothing to do with actual political processes. I think our political
figures, the press and society have for a long time been unable to
differentiate real processes from invented stories. Such actions will
not any more produce results in our country."
