An agreement on using Armenia's workforce in the United Arab Emirates
(UAE) was discussed by the cabinet members on Thursday.
The bilateral document was signed between the Armenian and UAE
governments in the frameworks of the country's "open door" policy which
aims to involve foreign countries' (India, Pakistan, Philippines,
Arab countries) labor force in the UAE's large-scale economic and
social programs.
The agreement will ensure legal guarantees for the Armenian citizens
preparing to leave for the United Arab Emirates for work. On the other
hand, it is expected to keep them informed of new job opportunities
in the country, promising high salaries and comfortable housing
conditions.
Speaking of the program, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen
Gevorgyan elaborated on its prehistory. He said the government had come
up with the idea about eight or nine years ago after the authorities of
Qatar expressed willingness to involve Armenian construction companies'
workforce in the country's construction business.
