YEREVAN. - Intervention of Armenian National Congress (ANC) activists
into the work of law enforcers is a violation of law in itself,
said vice chairman of ruling Republican Party Galust Sahakayn during
a Wednesday briefing commenting on the recent incident between the
police and ANC activists.
"We understand that they are young, this was a challenge for them. But
it is up to the court to decide, coalition and ANC have nothing to do
with it. We have repeatedly stated there will be no discrimination,"
assured Sahakyan.
As Armenia News-NEWS.am reported earlier, seven oppositional activists
were detained on August 9, around 10:00 p.m. from Northern Avenue of
Yerevan downtown. The court upheld the detention of the third activist
Tigran Arakelyan who is accused of using violence against law enforcer.
