Yerevan is an agglomeration of different settlements, which have
nothing in common. It was artificially enlarged for the Underground
to be constructed, with numerous villages joined to the urban area,
Head Architect of Yerevan Narek Sargsyan told a press conference on
his 100th day in office.
"No one can explain how the Nubarashen neighborhood is considered
part of Yerevan, but Argavand is not. When I proposed that Yerevan
be divided into different cities, I was accused of executing the
authorities' order. However, the authorities were of the opposite
opinion," N. Sargsyan said.
