MAXIMUM DEFINED CAPACITY OF SMALL HPPS IN ARMENIA TO INCREASE TO 30 MEGAWATT

YEREVAN, September 9. /ARKA/. Government of Armenia proposed to Public
Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) to define the maximum capacity
of small HPPs to 30 megawatt.
"Till now the capacity of 10 megawatt was defined and now we can
stimulate maximum usage of hydro-potential", said Armenian Energy and
Natural resource Minister Armen Movsisyan in the government meeting.
The government also approved the rehabilitation program of gas-chemical
sphere.
As of March 1, 2011 there were 101 small HPPs in Armenia processing
electricity. Their total defined power was about 129.47 megawatt and
projected processing of electricity - about 409.9 million kilowatt-hour
a year.
In the same period licenses for the construction were provided to 74
small HPPs, which total defined capacity was about 140.6 megawatt.
