ARMENIA'S BANKING SYSTEM SHOWS GOOD RESULTS

In the first half of last year, Armenia's banking system registered
unprecedentedly high figures for post-crisis period and essential
increase as compared with the first half of 2009, Ashot Ospyan,
Chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia, told journalists on Sept 9.
The banking system's assets totaled AMD 1,763.3bn (a 12.5% increase).
Credit investments totaled AMD 1,179.1bn (a 17.8% increase). Economic
crediting showed a 23.4% increase, individual credits, an 8% increase.
The banking system's liabilities showed a 14% increase, and liabilities
on all the credits showed a 9.4% increase. At the end of last June,
combined total of loans reached AMD 158.1bn. The banking system's
aggregate capital totaled AMD 351.5bn (a 6.7% increase). The banking
system's profit totaled AMD 22.7bn.
