ITALIAN GOVERNMENT ASSISTS BRUCELLOSIS CONTROL IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN. - Armenian Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan proposes
to discuss the possibility of funding, through donor organizations,
the continuation of the Assistance for Brucellosis Control in Armenia
Project. The minster noted this during his meeting on Thursday with
representatives of the trilateral mission studying the project.
Sergo Karapatyan emphasized the importance of this project, approved
of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) activities in
connection with implementation of the Brucellosis Control Project,
and thanked the Italian government for its financial support. The
minister also noted that this project's main objective, which is
brucellosis control in Armenia, is in full alignment with development
goals of our country's government, the Ministry's press service told
Armenian News-News.am.
By way of this project, a proper training was conducted in Syunik
region between 2009 and 2011, all veterinaries included in the
vaccination program were retrained, and public awareness material
was distributed.
During the meeting, the Italian Embassy's temporary Charge d'Affaires
Paolo Bonissone thanked the Armenian agriculture minister for his
high appraisal of the assistance from Italy, and expressed hope that
Armenian-Italian agricultural cooperation would continue.
