Lieberman unlikely to speak about supporting Armenians
September 10, 2011 | 04:38
Managing editor of Israel-based izrus.co.il portal Alexander Goldstein
doubts that information about Israel's intention to support Armenians
in their confrontation with Turks is true.
He commented for Armenian News-NEWS.am on the reports of Israeli
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.
The newspaper wrote that Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman
instructed to develop measures to counter Turkey in the international
arena, among them is the support of Armenians and Kurds in their
confrontation with Turks.
Goldstein recalled that earlier Israel supported Kurds, Iranian Kurds
not Turkish. On the whole, Kurds receive Israel's moral support, he
stressed.
`It is strange that Lieberman, one of the architects of bilateral
relations with Azerbaijan, is speaking about supporting Armenians. He
is a person who realizes that it can ruin 20-year work in this
direction,' he said.
Besides, the author of the article is not famous for his close ties to
foreign office or Lieberman personally, therefore source of
information is unclear, Goldstein stressed.
