Activists in Dilijan join petition against GeoProMining Gold (video)

Activists in Armenia's resort town Dilijan have joined a petition
filed by the residents of Sotk settlement against the construction of
grinding and classifying machine in Sotk.
According to Ecolur, fifty activists put their signatures in an open
letter, demanding the suspension of the construction in Sotk.
The Dilijan residents are resentful at the activities of the
GeoProMining Gold Company which they claim are illegal.
The environmentalists claim the construction of that grinding
equipment threats to pollute the environment with heavy metals.
The letter written by the residents of Sotk and sent to relevant
bodies yet in April this year says that the construction is illegal
and that the whole project has not been approved by a state
examination.
It also says that the company in turn does not have permission for
construction and that the project runs counter to Armenia's Law on
Levan Sevan.
