ARMENAL FOIL-ROLLING PLANT IN YEREVAN SET TO PRODUCE 26,000 TONS OF FOIL THIS YEAR

YEREVAN, September 15. / ARKA /. ArmenAl Armenian-Russian foil-rolling
plant in Yerevan is set to produce 26,000 tons of foil this year, by 7%
more than in 2010, economy minister Tigran Davtian said today after
the government adopted a decision to extend the so-called ~Qtemporary
import customs regime~R for the company until September 8, 2012. The
privilege is granted to companies that import 300 million drams and
more worth equipment or services.
The minister said ArmenAl imports new equipment as part of a
cooperation project with German Achenbach Buschutten, that is
expected to result in the instalment of modern furnaces to reduce
production costs and time. He said this will allow the company to
produce competitive products and export them to United States and
other countries.
In the first six months of this year ArmenAl produced 13,110 tons of
foil, by 8.2% more than in the same period last year. It also exported
12,602 tons, by 4% more than in January-June last year.
The ArmenAl foil rolling mill was founded in May 2000 on the basis
of Kanaker aluminium smelter in Yerevan. It is one of the biggest
production facilities in Armenia and is the only producer of aluminium
foil in the Caucasus and Central Asian regions.
On May 18th, 2000 the mill was integrated into United Company RUSAL.
Together with two other foil mills, SAYANAL in the Russian republic
of Khakasia and Urals Foil, ARMENAL forms the company~Rs Packaging
Division.
