Yerevan/Mediamax/. The EU Commissioner for Enlargement and
Neighborhood policy Stefan Fule stated that "the European Union will
gradually increase its role in settling problems of regional conflicts
such as Nagorno Karabakh or Transnistria'.
He said that `we are starting the program process aimed at restoring
trust in these regions and we will undertake a more serious role in
settling these problems, Mediamax reports quoting `Interfax'.
`Bur we won't certainly change the frames of the solutions to these
problems overnight', said Stefan Fule.
In his exclusive interview to Mediamax in April 2011, Stefan Fule said
that the EU is ready to expand its involvement to support the OSCE
Minsk Group, for example, through increasing funding the measures
taken toward strengthening the trust, for example.
`We think the EU cannot stand idle in relation to all the protracted
conflicts in our neighborhood which have a direct impact on our
security. The entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty has given us new
instruments and opportunities that we would like to use more
effectively', noted Stefan Fule.
