YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS: The Armenian community of France
will celebrate Armenia's 20th anniversary. Director of ARF Armenian
Cause Office in Paris Hrach Varzhapetyan told Armenperss'
correspondent of France that the main event dedicated to Armenia's
Independence Holiday will be held in Paris on September 25. Political
and public figures from both France and Armenia are invited. Singer
Nune Yesayan will perform as well.
Referring to Armenia's achievements and flows during the passing 20
years, Mr. Varzhapetyan said that quite many up-and-downs and
achievements have been registered, and in the period of ruling of
every president the Diaspora has had different successes and
difficulties. "Analyzing the past 20 years, we must make a distinct
division between home and foreign policy. We, as a Diaspora, are
mainly interested in policy toward Turkey. Today we have gone a step
forward, as President Serzh Sargsyan has become the president, who
already drops a hint on land claims in regard to the policy concerning
Turkey. As for home policy, we expect that steps will be added in the
direction of strengthening of diplomacy," said Mr. Varzhapetyan,
adding that surely positive steps are being implemented, and there is
a progress.
According to him, Diaspora, too, has its commitments toward the
homeland, and the latter must support its compatriots, so the unity
has a large role in foreign policy". Today the 20 years should serve
for strengthening of that unity. Today's Armenia must be stronger. So
Armenia and Diaspora must strengthen the statehood jointly, making
Armenia a democratic country, a country of law," Mr. Varzhapetyan
said.
He noted that the issue on Karabakh conflict settlement is among the
primary ones in our country. "NKR must be internationally recognized.
We have liberated that homeland and obtained our rights, and now it is
high time for international recognition of NKR," said Director of ARF
Armenian Cause Office in Paris.
