Commandos: Despite ceaseless arming, Azeri public is not ready for a new war

Despite the ceaseless arming, the Azeri public is not ready for a
new war, Major-General Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan (Commandos), a hero of
the Karabakh war, told journalists on Saturday.
"Azerbaijan continues spending huge funds on strengthening its army's
armament, however, the military equipment is less important than the
moral spirit of people. By this criterion Armenians are much stronger.
Therefore, I think that Azerbaijan is not ready for a new war. First
and foremost, the Azeri public is not ready for a war. On the
contrary, we are ready for a war, and as a military serviceman, I am
willing to fight the aggressor in case of resumption of military
actions against the NKR. Certainly, a war is a very painful
phenomenon, but if Baku decides to unleash a war, I will go to the war
by all means", he said.
At the same time, when touching on the latest developments in the
Karabakh peace process, Commandos stressed that though the public was
extremely unconfident in the peace process over the past half-year,
now the situation has become clear due to President Serzh Sargsyan's
open policy in this matter.
"As regards our achievements over the 20 years since Armenia gained
independence, the main achievement is the independence. One more
achievement is that we have independent Artsakh and Armenian army", he
said.
