ANOTHER NEWBORN DIES IN VAIK

Another newborn died in Vaik Town maternity hospital, the Hraparak
reported. The death of the baby deserves double attention because
antenatal care was provided by notorious Metaxia Hovanisyan.
Earlier the mother-to-be complained of pains but the doctor reassured
that there are no problems. On the day of delivery, the doctor said
she could not figure out anything and the patient should be taken to
Yeghegnadzor Town for a caesarian section. In Yeghegnadzor, the baby
died six hours after surgery.
Now the real reason of the death is not known. The body was sent to
Yerevan for autopsy. The parents were told the results will be known
in a month. The parents haven't complained yet, and no proceedings
have been launched because they don't know the reason of the death
of their newborn.
"We can't draw conclusions without the results. It may be the doctor's
mistake or complications during pregnancy... I don't know," says the
woman's father-in-law, Vardan Hakobyan.
Earlier on September 2 the police had informed that on August 31,
at 5 pm the police station of Vaik got a report that Metaxia H., 54,
did not perform her professional duties appropriately while assisting
the delivery of a 20-year-old resident of Gndevaz village, causing
harm to the health of the newborn.
The police reported proceedings were launched.
