RUSSIAN SUBDIVISIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN DISPLAY OF TROOPS DEDICATED TO 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF ARMENIA'S INDEPENDENCE

The subdivisions of the 102-nd Russian military base deployed in
Armenia will also participate in the display of troops in honor of
the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence, press-secretary of
Armenian defence minister David Karapetyan said.
He also added that participation of the russian servicemen in
the display of troops is evidence of deep and effective military
partnership of Armenia and Russia. And those who say that presence
of the armed forces of another state at the main square of Armenia
shows our dependence, are mistaken, he said.
For his part, parliamentarian from the ruling RPA party, Razmik
Zohrabyan, said at today's press-conference that participation of
the Russian servicemen at the display of troops is a rather natural
phenomenon, taking into consideration the allied relations between
our countries and the obligations of the Russian subdivisions to
ensure security of Armenia.
"The logic of all this is rather simple - the core of the display of
troops is demonstrate all the means which provide security of our
country. And in this context the Russian subdivisions and defense
technology is one of these means. I wonder, why presence of the Russian
military base is not depreciative for us, but if they will participate
in the display of troops is depreciative? Where is the logic here?",
- Zohrabyan asked.
