CATHOLICOS OF ALL-ARMENIANS RECEIVES SECRETARY GENERAL OF WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES

Today at Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Catholicos of All-Armenians
Karekin II received the delegation headed by Secretary General of
the World Council of Churches (WCC) Olav Tveit. The delegation was
accompanied by Director of the Inter-Church Relations Department
Bishop Hovakim Manukyan.
Press service of the Mother See told Armenpress that congratulating
and conveying his good wishes to Olav Tveit on the occasion of his
election, His Holiness expressed joy for receiving the delegation in
the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. In his speech the Catholicos noted
that the majority of the Armenian representatives of the World Council
of Churches speak of devotion and work of the General Secretary with
high respect.
Referring to participation of the Armenian Church in the works of the
World Council of Churches, His Holiness stressed that in future it
will continue more deeply and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin will
contribute to productivity of the mission of the WCC, as the latter
promotes strengthening of brotherly spirit of the churches and unity
of efforts based on mutual love and respect toward each other.
WCC Secretary General expressed his gratitude to Catholicos of
All-Armenians for invitation and warm reception and referred to
important participation of the Armenian Church in the works of the
council.
