    INDIA'S C-DAC TO SET UP COMPUTER LABS FOR ARMENIAN SCHOOL STUDENTS

    PanARMENIAN.Net - India's Centre for Development of Advanced Computing
    (C-DAC) has signed an agreement with the Union Ministry of External
    Affairs (MEA) to set up computer labs for school students in Armenia.

    Times of India reported that the project aims at upgrading information
    technology (IT) education and related facilities in 19 schools in
    urban and semi-urban areas and 53 schools in rural areas. More than
    15,000 students are expected to benefit from the project, where 72
    labs will be set up.

    The agreement was signed by Ajay Bisaria, joint secretary, Eurasia
    and Rajat Moona, director general, C-DAC. Hayastan All Armenian Fund
    is in the process of supporting Armenian government's efforts for
    the development of adequate IT infrastructure in Tavush region.

    The C-DAC will procure IT equipment through public tender in
    consultation with MEA, help in finalization of the tender after
    technical evaluation, etc, and arrange for supply, do site inspection
    and other related works. The C-DAC will also supervise the onsite
    support during the period of warranty.

    Moona said, "The C-DAC has already made some inroads with the
    implementation of the India-Armenia Centre for Excellence in ICT at
    Yerevan, and I am sure we will be able to extend our expertise in
    Tavush region as well."
