HAYKAKAN ZHAMANAK: ANOTHER NEWBORN DIES IN ARMENIA

On September 4, the Yeghegnadzor medical center reported a newborn's
death.
The mother was under supervision of Metaksya Hovhannisyan, Head of the
Vaik maternity hospital, the newspaper reports. The same doctor was
involved in another incident this August: a newborn was transported
from Vaik to Yerevan in a grave state. However, the Yerevan doctors
proved unable to save the babe's life. Doctor Hovhannisyan was
in charge of the case, and the woman's relatives brought various
accusations against.
Karine Saribekyan, Head of the Maternity and Child Care Department,
Armenia's Ministry of Health, told the newspaper that experts
investigated the Sept. 4 case and presented preliminary results. They
reported intrauterine pneumonia of the fetus, which caused its death.
No medical error was reported. Moreover, the Yeghegnadzor doctors
actually saved the woman's life, Saribekyan said.
