In regard to the statement of the Georgian Foreign Ministry on the
local election in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Georgian Ambassador to
Armenia, Tengiz Sharmanishvili, has been invited to the Foreign
Ministry of Armenia.
The point is that Georgia did not recognize the mayoral election in
Stepanakert, NKR on September 18. The statement of the Georgian MFA
reads: `The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia reiterates its
univocal commitment to the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within
internationally recognized borders, its sovereignty and does not
recognize the local elections in NKR. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of Georgia welcomes the efforts of the international community to
settle the NKR issue and believes there is no alternative to peace
talks.'
A few days ago a similar statement was made by the Russian foreign
ministry on the local elections in NKR. It is interesting if the
Russian envoy will also be summoned to the MFA or they will not dare
to invite him.
Georgia has almost no role in the settlement of the NKR issue.
Meanwhile, over the past three years Russia has been set to return
Karabakh to Azerbaijan. If Armenia is a real state and has a foreign
ministry, first, it should have invited the Russian Ambassador for
explanations.
Generally, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is supposed to
contact all the ambassadors of all the countries which harm the rights
of the NKR people.
