The former head of the Bank of Armenia Bagrat Asatrian thinks that
for the last 20 years Armenia did not manage to develop successfully
economically. According to him, only certain individuals in the country
exercise the right to conduct business. Asatrian also mentioned the
poor demographic situation in the country. For the last 20 years
there has been no growth in the population of Armenia.
According to him, only 3-5% of the Armenian population is rich. The gap
between the rich and the rest of the population increases, besides the
country faces an increasing tendency for its population to emigrate.
