Yerevan/Mediamax/. John Evans, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia in
2004-2006, doesn't intend to meet with neither current Armenian
President Serzh Sargsyan, nor its predecessors Robert Kocharyan and
Levon Ter-Petrosian.
During today's discussions organized by "Civilitas" Foundation,
the retired diplomat stated that he noticed considerable progress in
Armenia for the past 5 years, Mediamax reports.
"Indeed, there are shortcomings, but you can see them everywhere.
However, it's obvious that large-scale reforms were realized in many
spheres, at least in the capital", noted the former U.S. Ambassador.
Germany's Ambassador Hans-Johan Schmidt made more categorical
assessments noting that Armenia faces serious challenges: combating
corruption, improving tax administration and establishing a competitive
economy and favorable investment climate.
