YEREVAN. - The current complicated situation in Armenia is a heritage
left by first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Germany's Ambassador
to Armenia Hans-Jochen Schmidt said at the hearings organized by the
Civilitas Foundation on Tuesday.
According to him, the processes that led to current oligarchic
economy in Armenia are a result of policy run during the years of
Ter-Petrosyan's tenure
"I often hear how the first president criticizes elections and current
authorities during opposition's rallies. I asked one of his advisors
what he thinks about the 1994-1997 elections when Ter-Petrosyan
himself participated. The advisor responded that I have wrong
information. Anyway, one should be open to accept the criticism
against himself," the Ambassador stated.
