LA MAYOR HOSTS A RECEPTION IN HONOR OF THE ARMENIAN PRESIDENT

Within the framework of the visit to the USPresident Serzh Sargsyan
participated in the reception organized by the Mayor of Los Angeles,
Antonio Villaraigosa.
Noting that Los Angeles is home to the largest Armenian community
abroad, President Sargsyan thanked the local authorities, Mayor
Antonio Villaraigosa and all friends of the Armenian people for the
warm attitude towards our compatriots.
"Hundreds of thousands of my compatriots got an opportunity to live,
develop, ensure their well-being and make their contribution to the
achievements of the city and the United States, in general. We are
grateful to the US for this attitude. Our friendship is everlasting,
and I'm glad that the Armenian-American relations have greatly
reinforced over the past years. There is a very strange thing.
We have a history of millennia, but we celebrate the 20th anniversary
of independence. We are a country of young democracy, but we have
been guided by these ideas for 1 700 years. Today the support of our
friends and our potential help us ensure progress in our country,"
the President stated.
Wrapping up his visit to the United States, President Serzh Sargsyan
headed for France for a two-day official visit.
