MATTHEW BRYZA: CORRUPTION IS A BIG ISSUE FOR AZERBAIJAN

Corruption is a big issue for Azerbaijan. Georgia has carried out great
stuff to fight corruption, while Azerbaijan stands in the first place;
"Turan" news agency quotes US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza
as saying in a meeting with members of Caspian European Integration
Business Club.
"The economy is concentrated in the hands of the authorities. Some
time ago khan ruled here, now Azerbaijan is an independent state. But
some phenomena in the economy still remind me of khan rule. That is
why it's difficult for the American companies to run business here,"
said M. Bryza.
