The "Armenian community of Georgia" petitioned to the Tbilisi City
Hall and the City Council with a request to allow the placing of a
plaque in memory the Armenian Genocide victims.
"We, the ethnic Armenian citizens of Georgia, form the second largest
national minority in Georgia, and the first in Tbilisi. Despite
numerous petitions and requests, we still do not have in Tbilisi any
memorial-symbol devoted to the 1915-1923 Armenian Genocide victims.
We, the undersigned, ask that you consider our righteous wish and
allow the [Armenian] community to place a plaque devoted to victims
of the 1915-1923 Armenian Genocide," the aforesaid petition reads.
