Azerbaijan's president-for-life once again revealed his true colors
at the official opening of the Euronest PA second session in Baku
on Tuesday. He provoked a verbal conflict between the parliamentary
delegations of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Condemning Armenia of "occupation of Azerbaijani territory",
"ethnic cleansing, killings of civilians and refusal to carry out
UN resolutions", Aliyev called the actions of Armenians "a Nazi
genocide". Turan reports.
Later, the head of the Armenian delegation to the PA "Euronest",
Vahan Hovhannisyan sounded a statement of protest of the Armenian
side in response to the speech of Aliyev. "I can not remain silent
when our delegation is called a fascists by the Azerbaijani side.
Unfortunately, in Baku, we saw what was predicted. There is
anti-Armenian propaganda here, based on a distortion of historical
truth," said Hovhannisyan. He said that the Armenian delegation
expresses displeasure in this regard and asked the chairman of the
session of the Euronest PA to include this statement in the protocol
of the meeting.
Afterwards, Hovhannisyan addressed those present again saying: "I
hope the officials of our countries will come out from constructive
and peaceful positions," he said.
Thus, the demonstrative correctness of the Azerbaijani parliamentarians
on the first day of the session in Baku aimed to leave the role of
"the premier violin" to the Azerbaijani monarch.
Aliyev successfully played his role in the best traditions of the
mythical Azerbaijani "tolerance" and "aspiration for constructivism."
