Baku continues making anti-Armenian and belligerent statements.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev came forth with an anti-Armenian
speech during the recent Euronest Parliamentary Assembly sitting in
Baku. Why doesn't the international community react to such statements?
"I think there is an adequate response on the part of the international
community," Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at a joint
press conference with his Lithuanian counterpart Audronius Azubalis.
"I won't speak about Armenia's reaction. We always react as such
nonsense cannot be ignored. As for the response of the international
community, I'll remind about the EU report on racism and intolerance.
It makes a clear reference to Azerbaijan, which is not launching
sufficient fight against racist expressions," Minister Nalbandian said.
"What Azerbaijan is saying and doing compromises the UN Security
Council, as Azerbaijan is a non-permanent member of it. No need
to comment, when a country creates tension in the region and makes
bellicose statements, condemns a whole nation and treats it as an
enemy," Edward Nalbandian stated.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis said, in turn, that
political will is needed to push the process forward.
"Lithuania's position is very clear, and it has never changed. We
support the position of the OSCE Minsk Group," he said. According
to him, the proposals of the Co-Chairs are really good, he said,
adding that "on the other hand, Lithuania backs the settlement of
the issue in line with the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act.
