LAS VEGAS-The Armenian National Committee-Political Action Committee
will host a fundraiser for Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (D-NV District

NV on April 14 at 6 p.m.
Congresswoman Berkley is running for election to the United States
Senate in the November 2012 election. Congresswoman Berkley was first
elected to the House of Representatives in 1998, and has been a member
of the Armenian Caucus since taking her seat in Congress.
Congresswoman Berkley has been a consistent supporter of
Armenian-American issues, has co-sponsored the Armenian Genocide
Resolution and participated in Armenian Genocide observances on
Capitol Hill. She has received an 'A' rating from the ANC PAC.
As a member of the House International Relations Committee,
Congresswoman Berkley spoke of her support for free trade with
Armenia, and in opposition to any blockade of Armenia by the Turkish
or Azerbaijani governments, by rail bypass or otherwise. She also noted
her opposition to the appointment of Ambassador Hoagland to the United
States Embassy in Armenia, stating that an Ambassador to Armenia must
acknowledge the truth of the Armenian Genocide. The Congresswoman
stated firmly that the time has long past for the United States to
officially acknowledge the Armenian Genocide. Congresswoman Berkley in
her bid for the United States Senate deserves the support of not only
the Armenians of Nevada, but Armenians throughout the United States.
