YEREVAN, APRIL 6, ARMENPRESS: The situation in the region is much
more important for Armenia currently than inter political situation,
Turkologist Hakob Chakryan told a news conference today. He said it
is wrong to focus the whole attention only on upcoming parliamentary
election as in any case the social situation of the people will not
sharply change. According to him, developments in Syria and Iran are
important for Armenia as these countries are the most devoted friends
of Armenia.
He said the situation in Iran is very tensed but the information and
statements spread by the USA are more of psychological impact. Iran
will not be attacked as far as the Syria's issue is not solved. He
said currently the UN uses Turkey to exert pressures on Syria.
"Turkey is trying to be perceived more Catholic than the Rome Pope
as if protecting the rights of Syrian people," Chakryan said, adding
that if Turkey tries to intrude into Syria, it will suffer hard losses.
He stressed that becoming a tool in the hands of the United States
Turkey has lost its rating in the Arab countries and is not viewed
as leader of the region any more.
