President of the Football Federation of Armenia Ruben Hayrapetyan
visited the Hrazdan stadium in Yerevan.
He talked to the builders and visited the sections being renovated now.
The stadium owner Ashot Aghababyan and the Bulgarian journalist
Tsvetana Paskaleva joined Hayrapetyan later.
The main goal of the renovation is an Armenia-Italia football match
scheduled for Oct. 12, 2012.
Hayrapetyan said that special seats for disabled people will be
installed.
"We plan a renovation stage by stage. This May we are going to replace
the lawn and install new lighting. Specialists from Italy are coming
today or tomorrow. The stadium will meet all of the FIFA standards"
Hayrapetyan said.
He did not cite any figures. "The construction often requires
unexpected expenses. Some ten to 15 million dollars will be spent,"
he said.
Tsvetana Paskaleva presented her films about Nagorno-Karabakh to
Hayrapetyan. She wished Armenian football players to play international
matches with enthusiasm.
In 2008, the Hrazdan stadium hosted the Armenia-Turkey football match,
which inaugurated "soccer diplomacy." The renovation work got under
way this March.
