ARMENIA TO TAKE PART IN MISS WORLD FOR FIRST TIME

20-year old Anna Arakelyan won the Miss Armenia 2012 beauty contest
at the National Academic Theater of Sundukyan in Yerevan last night,
News Armenia reports.
Anita Gabriyelyan from Yerevan was second, Catherine Abramyan from
Kotayk was third. There were 18 beauties competing, aged 18-24. About
200 females filed requests to take part in the contrst.
Anna Arakelyan will represent Armenia in the Miss World 2012 beauty
contest in China's Ordos in August, Chairman of the Organization
Committee Mamikon Daniyelyan said.
The Miss Armenia contest was first held in 1996. Ara Yerndzhakyan, Art
Director of the Yerevan Chamber Theater, was its first president. The
Miss Armenia national agency has been organizing the contest since
2000. Miss Armenia 2003 Lusine Tovmasyan became the Vice Miss of
Europe in Paris in 2005.
