YEREVAN, APRIL 18, ARMENPRESS: Kim Kardashian's declaration that she
wants to run for the mayor of Glendale, California in the future has
drawn reaction from several city officials, reports Armenpress citing
ACESHOWBIZ. While city spokesman Tom Lorenz clarified that there is no
public election for the position, two city council members expressed
their support for the reality star.
City Councilman Rafi Manoukian told E! News, "I would support
her. I think she would make an excellent mayor." City Councilman and
former mayor Ara Najarian also thought "it's a great idea." In fact,
he claimed to have reached out to her representative to offer her
"the position of honorary chief of staff to my office to help her
get acquainted to Glendale."
In another interview with On the Red Carpet, Najarian explained about
his offer. "I know Kim is busy all over the world and all that but
if she's able to come in a few days a week or a few days a month to
see how the city works and see all the great things we do," he said,
"if she wants to learn how Glendale runs this is really the best way
to do it."
Najarian also expressed hope that Kardashian would attend Glendale's
annual Armenian genocide commemoration. He believes that her attendance
"would make a great impact on the city." Unfortunately, Kardashian's
spokesperson said the estranged wife of Kris Humphrieswon't be able
to make it.
Another Glendale official commenting on Kardashian's intent to run for
mayor was City Clerk Ardashes Kassakhian. He told Los Angeles Times
that by talking about her possible political bid, the reality star
"has done what we try to do election after election after election."
He added, "I think it would be one of the more closely followed
elections in Glendale's history."
