the relations with the IAEA and the development of cooperation, viewing
it as an important component of Armenia's energy and nuclear security.
Minister Nalbandian recalled the participation of Armenian President
Serzh Sargsyan in the security summit in Seoul, which reiterated IAEA's
central role in creating practical mechanisms of nuclear security.
Yukiya Amano noted, in turn, that the International Atomic Energy
Agency attaches importance to the cooperation with Armenia and assessed
it as rather productive.
During the meeting reference was made to the cooperation between
Armenia and IAEA on issues of exploitation of the Metsamort Nuclear
Power Plant and construction of a new NPP.
Edward Nalbandian noted that "being a country, which possesses
nuclear technology, Armenia has joined a number of international legal
documents regulating the sphere, as well as the EU's initiative of
risk assessments of nuclear power plants."
Edward Nalbandian and Yukiya Amano exchanged views on the IAEA steps
targeted at ensuring nuclear security.
