ARMENIA TO PARTICIPATE IN ANNECY ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL

YEREVAN, APRIL 18, ARMENPRESS. Annecy International Animation Film
Festival organized in the homonymic French Annecy city this year will
be launched June 4-9.Davit Sahakyants "Robert Sahakyants Production
" animation studio president stated that within the framework of
the contest the exhibition of Robert Sahakyants' cartoons will be
presented.
" 25 films were submitted beforehand while jury gave preference to
9 films. "Aghvesagirk", "Katsin " popular cartoons were among those
lucky 9 ones " Sahakyants informed. In the words of the interlocutor
the participation in the festival by our country is already a big
achievement. Sahakyants drew a parallel between Annecy and Cannes
film festivals stating that while Cannes is famous in film market
Annecy is prestigious in animation field.
Annecy was initially created as a part of Cannes Film Festival and
only then in 1960 started to operate as a separate film festival.
Simultaneously with the festival process film market is operating in
the old French town since 10 am until 8 pm. Sahakyants highlighted that
this year Armenia will also have a pavilion where "Robert Sahakyants
Production" activities will be presented.
Each year the festival kicks off in the second week of June. About
6-7 thousand professional animators and 400 journalists from around
the world visit the city. Winning in Annecy Festival guarantees one
to be present the film in "Oscar" award.
